Farewell To 4412 E Mulberry #228

After a two month long journey of change, moving, settling, selling and sorting, I am near the end of what seemed to me an almost impossible task. Since September 12th when John was taken to Poudre Valley Hospital, it has been like a whirlwind of activity. I believe the necessary chores were a blessing as it made me get up on my feet and handle things immediately. No time for sitting still and being remorseful. But now, it is nearing an end and that is another adjustment to make.

I will soon be completely out of the home I shared with John for nearly 22 years. The title will soon be signed and then it is not my property any longer. It is a sad thing to say goodbye to the place I lived the longest in my entire life. Even though I have owned many other homes, none were for as long as 4412 E Mulberry #228. A fancy home? No, not by any means. How often we commented that our home was safe, nice, cozy and homey --- and paid for.

We moved here in March 1988. I was 52 and John was 55. It is where we started off on many a Harley trip and returned safe and sound. It is where we were found by a little male kitten named "Buster". Buster lived with us for 17 years and is buried in the back yard among the rose bushes. This is where we brought "Kitty Girl" after my mom died in 2003. This is where Logan came to visit when she was not quite 3 years old. Now she is a young woman of 24. Chad and Ryan were 12 and 14 when we moved here and now they are successful and happy young men 34 and 36. Jane and Jewel knew no other place for Grandma and Grandpa. We had fun family get togethers with John's family and with my parents and family. This basically is where we grew old together. Near the end we didn't have the energy to keep the place up very well but Don and Cindy were always so good to help us get things done.

This is the place I came home to after leaving the hospital and later the nursing home when John knew his last days were upon us. It was a safe and secure haven in the midst of terrible turmoil.

So, as with all things eventually in life, it is time to say goodbye to 4412 E Mulberry #228. You were a good home for us for 22 years. I only hope the new family there will feel as much at home as we did.
