September 25, 2009 ------- Goodbye For Awhile

This is the view John and I shared on September 24, 2009. It is what we looked at from his room at Blue Grouse Nursing Home in Fort Collins, Colorado. His fervent prayers were answered at 12:20 am on September 25th. He was very sick, and watching him suffer was terrible. We had two peaceful days to think and talk and share our memories and relive our good times. No need to dwell on anything else at this time. I say "goodbye" to my very best friend. May we meet again in a far distant and beautiful place. He was a brave soldier in these last and painful days. I always parked our truck in this spot so he could see me arrive at 7:15 am. He said it was what he waited for each morning. The best of peace to him forever.

I think the view was perfect with the flag in the background. Since I am staying with my parents, Dad and I have been talking about his childhood and his brother. He told me about his days in Korea and working side by side with him for the Anaconda Co. I always remember what a good storyteller Uncle Jack was around the campfire. I asked Dad who taught them to be such good storytellers. He said it was probably his Grandma Eyre.

If I were there, I would play Uncle Jack one last fiddle song.

We love you Aunt Pat.

Pat,
Thank you for the love and support that you have given John all these years. We share in your loss.

I have had great memories of all the reunions that we shared and recall the stories that John told during our get togethers. We love the both of you very much. We will see you on the 4th or 5th.

Thanks for posting the picture of the view from John's room. It kind of puts you right there with him, doesn't it?

John will certainly be missed by everyone who knew him. Thank you for being such a loving companion and best friend - it makes my heart smile remembering all of the great adventures you both had.
